10 days in Norway: sailing, fjords and ski touring for Haglöfs & DJI

A 10-day trip to Norway to showcase the products in real-world conditions: sailing, fjords, ski touring and support from Haglöfs and DJI.

For ten days, we lived aboard a sailboat that dropped us off each morning at the end of a fjord. We disembarked in a dinghy, put on our skins at water level, climbed a peak, and descended the other side where the boat picked us up. That was the idea: to show the equipment in its normal use , not in a studio setting. A real field expedition.

This trip also had a photo/video objective: to produce immersive content for a Haglöfs campaign, with equipment support from DJI for the aerial shots. Some of my photos taken on this trip were even printed in Haglöfs stores to illustrate the "fjords + mountains + sailing" concept.

The sailboat was our base. We slept on board, sorted photos, prepared for the next day's outings, and dried our jackets on deck. The skipper dropped us off where the snow reached almost to the sea. Then it was a climb of 1000 to 1400 meters, often with an open view of the snow-covered fjords.

The Norwegian setting was perfect for the photo: pristine white snow, dark landscape, blue water, and a mountainous backdrop. It was exactly what we wanted to tell the story of an outdoor brand in a realistic Nordic environment.

The idea was to show the Haglöfs outfits in action : climbing with perspiration, on the ridges with the wind, descending with snow sticking to the trousers, and then back on the boat. Nothing is static. We see the packs, the skins, the skis being carried, the group moving forward – in short, real-life use.

Thanks to DJI, we were able to film aerial shots above the boat and the group as they climbed. These shots provide a sense of scale: you can see the sailboat in the fjord and the small team ascending a snowy valley. It's this type of footage that brands then use for their web content, social media, and in-store displays.

I've compiled a selection of these images of fjords, sailboats, and Norwegian ski touring in my online shop. You can discover them here: "Photos of Norway" collection . They capture the same atmosphere as those used for promotional purposes: cold sea, white mountains, and low-angled light.

Some of these photos – or variations thereof – were printed and displayed in Haglöfs stores to illustrate window displays, corners, or promotional materials. That was precisely the purpose of the trip: to produce credible, consistent, and reusable visuals.

A human expedition

In addition to the action, we also photographed life on board: reading charts on deck, the guide's briefing, drying gear, sailing at sunset. These "between-the-lines" images are invaluable for a brand: they show community, sharing, and not just performance.

For this project, I also used DJI equipment to film the expedition from the air. The goal was to show what you can't see from the ground: the sailboat resting at the bottom of the fjord, the small team skiing down a snowy slope, and then the descent to the sea where the boat picked us up. The drones performed very well in the cold and damp conditions, even with takeoffs from the deck. These aerial shots complement the on-the-ground photos and offer the brand more cinematic content, perfect for social media, in-store displays, or a campaign centered around Nordic adventure.
