Alu-Dibond Photo Print: Matte finish, sizes, and tips

Matte · rigid · refined

Why choose Alu Dibond for mountain photography?

An Alu Dibond photo print combines a mountain photograph with a rigid, lightweight and discreet panel. Its matte finish limits distracting reflections and gives full prominence to relief, mineral textures, snow, glaciers and Alpine light.

Works offered by AluArtMountains are attributed to their true photographer. Each photo print is made to order by a professional partner, then prepared with a hanging system suited to the selected size.

Understanding the support

What is an Alu Dibond photo print?

Alu Dibond is a composite panel designed to provide excellent flatness while keeping weight moderate. A photograph printed on its visible face becomes a rigid, contemporary wall print that can be installed without a visible frame.

This support is particularly well suited to Alpine landscapes, whose visual impact often relies on many details: rock strata, snow, ice, forests, reflections, mist and ridge lines. With no glass in front of the image, there is no additional visual layer between the photograph and the room.

Key points
  • a rigid, lightweight and very flat panel;
  • a matte finish that limits direct reflections;
  • precise rendering of textures and relief;
  • presentation without a mandatory visible frame;
  • made to order;
  • standard or custom sizes depending on the photograph.
Panel structure

The three layers of an Alu Dibond panel

For standard sizes, the Alu Dibond panel used is a 3 mm white-base support. It combines two thin aluminium sheets around a central composite core, giving it rigidity and excellent flatness.

The first aluminium sheet

It forms the visible face of the panel. The photograph is printed on this surface for a sharp, matte and contemporary finish.

The central composite core

Placed between the two metal faces, this central layer adds thickness and stability while keeping the overall weight moderate.

The second aluminium sheet

It forms the back of the panel and completes the sandwich structure that keeps the print rigid and flat.

In practice: the 3 mm panel forms a rigid, flat support with no glass in front of the image. The photograph, panel and hanging system together form the finished wall print.

Photographic rendering

Why Alu Dibond works well for Alpine landscapes

Mountain photographs often combine wide variations in light, fine textures and graphic lines. The support needs to preserve this richness while remaining visually discreet in the room.

Readable textures

Rock, snow, ice, forests and reflections remain present without the support overpowering the image.

Matte finish

It limits distracting reflections and provides a calmer view than a highly glossy surface.

No heavy frame

The landscape can fill the entire visible surface and retain the strength of its original composition.

Large sizes

The panel's rigidity and flatness are well suited to horizontal views, panoramas and large walls.

What should you expect?

The matte finish suits mineral tones, snow whites, high-altitude skies, mist and black-and-white photographs. It does not eliminate every reflection in every lighting condition, but it avoids the pronounced mirror effect of a very glossy surface.

  • precise detail in relief and textures;
  • restrained rendering of whites, blacks and mineral tones;
  • suitable for both colour and black-and-white images;
  • no glass in front of the photograph;
  • natural integration into a living room, chalet or office.
Lighting tip: in a very bright room, avoid placing the print directly opposite a large window or in prolonged direct sunlight. Side or indirect light generally provides a more even view.
Made-to-order production

From photograph to finished print

Each work is prepared for the chosen size. AluArtMountains checks the file, crop and proportions before production begins. The photo print is then made to order by a professional partner.

1. Size and crop

The photograph's aspect ratio is compared with the selected size to avoid an incoherent crop of summits, foregrounds or main compositional lines.

2. File check

Resolution, crop and overall file consistency are checked before the file is sent to the production partner.

3. Production

The photograph is printed on matte Alu Dibond in the ordered size.

4. Preparation and shipping

The hanging system intended for the size is added, then the photo print is protected in suitable packaging before shipping.

Choosing the right proportions

What size should you choose for an Alu Dibond print?

The right size depends on the wall, furniture, viewing distance and desired effect. A print that is too small may look isolated, while a well-proportioned large format can structure the entire room.

Available dimensions vary by work. The product page remains the reference for the standard sizes offered with each photograph.

A custom size up to 200 × 110 cm

Some photographs can be adapted up to 200 cm on the long side and 110 cm on the other. The crop can be reworked without exactly retaining the catalogue ratio, without stretching or distorting the image.

Feasibility depends on resolution and composition and, for a work by another photographer, on availability of the file and the necessary rights. A wall simulation can be prepared before approval.

Hanging

How do you hang an Alu Dibond photo print?

The hanging system may vary according to size and production partner. It may be a magnetic fixing, a bar or hook, an interlocking rail, or an equivalent solution supplied with its own instructions.

Identify the kit you receive and follow the enclosed instructions first. Screws and wall plugs must be appropriate for the wall, the hanging system and the weight of the print.

Choosing your support

Alu Dibond or Fine Art print: which should you choose?

The two supports suit different uses. Alu Dibond is designed as a wall print ready to integrate into an interior. Fine Art is more closely associated with paper printing, framing and a collecting approach.

Preserving your print

How do you care for an Alu Dibond photo print?

Cleaning

Dust the surface with a soft, clean, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive sponges, harsh products and vigorous rubbing on the printed photograph.

Placement

Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and constantly humid environments. In a very bright room, a side wall is generally preferable to a wall directly opposite a large window.

Packaging and transport

The photo print is protected in packaging suited to its size before shipping. On receipt, check the condition of the parcel before removing the protective materials.
