Steps, railings, and rows of buildings create a distinct urban perspective, where each change in level evokes the relief of the Lyon hillside. This historic route connects the outskirts of the Presqu'île to the Croix-Rousse plateau, in the 1st arrondissement. The surrounding buildings and passageways are closely linked to the history of the canuts (silk weavers) and the districts that developed around the silk industry.
