About this image

From the shores of Lake Gentau, the Pic du Midi d’Ossau stands out above the Pyrenean summer pastures. The mountain occupies an important place in the composition, while the water and grassy slopes keep the foreground naturally open. A stream crosses the green pasture before the blue lake. This nearby line follows the curves of the terrain, while the two rocky points dominate the background. The photograph thus connects several forms of water and terrain, from the small stream in the meadow to the basin and the great summit closing the valley.

The framing emphasises the silhouette of the Pic du Midi d’Ossau above the water and summer pastures. The successive planes provide depth, the mineral tones of the summit contrast with the greens of the pastures, and the shore guides the eye without closing off the landscape.

This view belongs to the Ayous lakes area, in the Ossau Valley and the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. The peak forms a constant landmark around the lake, but its appearance varies depending on the position, light, and shoreline.

This photo print of the Pic du Midi d’Ossau from Lake Gentau is printed on demand on matte Dibond aluminium. The rendering preserves the sharpness of the summit and the natural colors of the valley.
