This brief illumination isolates the upper ridges and reveals the irregularities of the rock, the residual snow, and the strong verticality of the pyramid. The summit rises to 4,478 meters in the Valais Alps, on the Italian border. From the Zermatt valley, its Swiss face dominates a landscape of forests, moraines, and high glacial reliefs that give the mountain its full scale.
