About this image

From Semnoz, the relief follows one another as far as the Chartreuse massif, with Mont Granier and Chamechaude on the horizon. Forests, valleys and ridges form several planes naturally separated by distance. A curving track crosses golden grassy hills dotted with conifers. This nearby line gives the photograph a path before bluish mountains take over in the distance. Trees mark changes in slope; the curve of the terrain gradually leads toward the profiles of Granier and Chamechaude beyond the first relief of Semnoz.

Semnoz overlooks the Annecy basin and is one of the gateways to the Bauges massif. Chamechaude, the highest point of Chartreuse, reaches 2,082 metres. Increasingly bluish tones toward the horizon accentuate the depth and allow the different massifs to be read without weighing down the composition.

Distance gives the mountains progressively bluer tones. This atmospheric effect naturally separates the planes and makes it possible to identify the major relief without overloading the image with details.

This photo print of Semnoz offers an open panorama between Bauges and Chartreuse. A clear and structured mountain photograph, to discover alongside the photo prints of the Bauges massif. Printed to order on matte aluminium Dibond, the work preserves the nuances of the alpine meadow and the atmospheric transitions between the massifs.
