About this image
The view looks down into a snow-covered access couloir leading to the Rouies plateau, with mountaineers below. The slope forms a direct line through the image, bordered by dark rock and compact snow, then extends toward a sea of clouds. The two walls tightly frame the figures below. Beyond the passage, the sea of clouds suddenly widens the view before the large snow-covered wall on the horizon. This change of scale conveys the height of the couloir: the mountaineers make the nearby slope easy to read, while the clouds open up a much greater depth behind them.
The photograph draws its strength from this plunging perspective. Changes in texture between snow, ice and rock pace the progression, while low-angle light emphasizes the hollows of the couloir and the depth of the ridges without hiding the difficulty of the terrain.
The area belongs to the Écrins massif, between the Hautes-Alpes and Isère. Higher up, the Barre des Écrins reaches 4,102 metres, while the Rouies plateau lies in a high-mountain environment linked to the Valgaudemar and Vénéon valleys.

What should I do if my print arrives damaged or has a defect?
If the print has a printing defect, breakage or transport damage, whether the packaging is damaged or appears intact, contact AluArtMountains as soon as possible. Send your order number, a full photograph of the print and detailed photos of the defect. If the packaging is marked or damaged, also include photos of the inner and outer packaging and the shipping label. Once the claim is approved, a compliant replacement print will be produced at no extra cost, without limiting your statutory rights.
