A waterfall descends the high cliffs of the Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval, forming a clear line through the rock and vegetation. The water appears delicate against the immensity of the rock face, immediately emphasizing the scale of the landscape. The photograph was taken in Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, in the Giffre Massif in Haute-Savoie. The waterfalls of the cirque multiply in spring due to snowmelt; this one is intentionally not named more precisely so as not to attribute an unconfirmed toponym. The vertical framing follows the fall and highlights the contrast between the movement of the water and the stability of the limestone. Vegetated areas provide shades of green, while the shadows of the cliff allow the white stream to remain perfectly legible.
