From the sky, Aix-les-Bains stretches along the eastern shore of Lac du Bourget. The city, its ports, parks, and lakeside districts form a clear, cohesive whole, dominated by the slopes of Mont Revard and the Bauges massif. The lakeside road, car parks, beach and pontoons can be distinguished in front of the residential area. The largely leafless trees make the spaces near the water easier to read. In the background, the end of the lake closes the perspective, while a long mountain occupies the right; these boundaries give a precise structure to the shoreline landscape seen from above.

The aerial perspective reveals this relationship between urbanism, water, and mountains without reducing the image to a simple city view. The lines of the shore, roads, and buildings provide scale, while the mountains maintain a dominant presence in the background.

The lake organizes the entire area. Its long blue surface separates the city from the Épine mountain range and opens up the landscape towards the Chautagne, while the first foothills rise almost immediately behind the inhabited areas.
