About this image

Facing the ocean, the cliffs of Dyrhólaey frame a bay edged with black sand. A small opening appears at the foot of the volcanic wall. The broad framing follows the curve of the beach and foam between blue-green water and dark cliffs. A sea stack stands to the left of the bay, while the black beach extends to the right. The high horizontal cliff provides a foundation at the back of the image. The small opening at its foot remains a detail in the landscape: the great curve of foam and the blue-green water are the forms that organise the space and give this coastal view its full breadth.

The composition follows the curve of the shoreline and the contrast between the bay and the density of the rock. The ocean occupies a large part of the image, while foam draws a pale line at the foot of the black sand and cliffs.

The cape rises to around 120 metres on Iceland’s south coast, not far from Vík and Reynisfjara. Marine erosion has shaped the cliffs and rocky openings of this coastline.

What should I do if my print arrives damaged or has a defect?

If the print has a printing defect, breakage or transport damage, whether the packaging is damaged or appears intact, contact AluArtMountains as soon as possible. Send your order number, a full photograph of the print and detailed photos of the defect. If the packaging is marked or damaged, also include photos of the inner and outer packaging and the shipping label. Once the claim is approved, a compliant replacement print will be produced at no extra cost, without limiting your statutory rights.
