In spring, the Gordolasque Valley gradually regains its green hues, while the peaks and combes still retain significant patches of snow. The slopes, torrents, and successive reliefs open up a vast perspective towards the heart of the Mercantour. This valley stretches from Belvédère, in the Alpes-Maritimes, towards the national park and the higher areas of the Nice refuge. Its profile, flat areas, and rocky barriers bear the mark of ancient glaciers that shaped this territory of the Vésubie. The photograph shows the meeting of two seasons rather than an already established spring. The soft greens of the lower areas contrast with the whites and blues of the higher altitudes, while the clear light emphasizes the depth of the valleys without harshness on the peaks.
