The morning light illuminates Val Claret, its chalets, its slopes, and the snow-covered peaks that dominate Tignes. The buildings are tiered at the bottom of the valley, while the white slopes and the Vanoise summits form the background. Val Claret is the highest sector of Tignes, in Haute-Tarentaise. Its location at the foot of high mountains and near La Grande Motte gives the landscape an immediately perceptible high-mountain character, even in inhabited areas. The framing allows for an understanding of the resort's organization without letting the architecture take over. The roofs, roads, and ski lifts provide a sense of scale, then the clear light reveals the volumes of snow and the natural lines of the slopes.
