At blue hour, the lights of Zermatt appear at the foot of the still clearly visible Matterhorn. The roofs and streets of the village punctuate the valley with warm spots, while the summit retains cool tones and a dominant silhouette against the Valais sky. Zermatt is located at an altitude of approximately 1,600 meters at the end of the Mattertal valley. The village is surrounded by numerous peaks over 4,000 meters high and dominated by the Matterhorn, which reaches 4,478 meters on the border between Switzerland and Italy. The photograph balances the inhabited landscape and the high mountains. The lighting does not transform the village into an isolated subject: it gives scale to the summit and emphasizes the depth of the valley, between built foregrounds, dark forests, and snowy reliefs.
