About this image
In autumn, the trees form a tunnel of red, orange, and yellow foliage above the Canal du Vassé. The calm water extends the colours and shapes of the branches, while the perspective draws the eye towards the heart of Annecy. Boats moored along the quay punctuate the canal's edges. Their shapes remain discreet beneath the red-orange canopy, whose colours repeat in the water. The boats give a sense of scale to the passage, while the multicoloured reflections extend the foliage downwards and envelop the whole perspective.
The photograph emphasises the enveloping effect created by the vegetation. The reflections do not form a perfect symmetry: the movements of the water, the branches, and the shaded areas give the scene a more natural depth and a particularly soft atmosphere.
The canal connects the lake to the city's waterways and borders one of the most tree-lined areas of the city centre. Its quays, boats, and rows of trees create a passage between the lakeside landscape and the old town.
This photo print of the Canal du Vassé in Annecy in autumn is printed on demand on matte Dibond aluminium. The finish enhances the richness of the colours and the subtlety of the reflections.
