About this image

At the back of the Haut-Giffre valley, the immense cliffs of the Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval form a natural amphitheater around meadows and wooded slopes. Several waterfalls descend from the limestone walls, giving the whole a spectacular scale. A river and a well-used path run along the green valley floor. On the right, a waterfall descends from the cliff in front of the hazier mountain forms in the distance. People on the path give scale to the amphitheatre, while the two routes, water and trail, lead the eye between the slopes.

The panoramic framing captures the width of the cirque rather than focusing on a single waterfall. The cliffs form several tiers, the vegetated foregrounds soften the verticality, and the light reveals the limestone strata without hardening the relief.

The site is located in the commune of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, in Haute-Savoie, in the heart of the Giffre massif. In spring, melting snow feeds numerous temporary waterfalls that join the bottom of the valley, rapidly transforming the landscape.

What should I do if my print arrives damaged or has a defect?

If the print has a printing defect, breakage or transport damage, whether the packaging is damaged or appears intact, contact AluArtMountains as soon as possible. Send your order number, a full photograph of the print and detailed photos of the defect. If the packaging is marked or damaged, also include photos of the inner and outer packaging and the shipping label. Once the claim is approved, a compliant replacement print will be produced at no extra cost, without limiting your statutory rights.
