The Col des Aravis opens onto extensive Alpine pastures dominated by the limestone walls of the Aravis range. In summer, green meadows contrast with pale rock, while a few chalets give a sense of scale to this mountain landscape. The composition unfolds in successive layers: pastures in the foreground, scattered buildings at the foot of the slopes, then the long rock wall closing the horizon. This sequence creates depth while keeping the pass clearly readable. At 1,486 metres, between La Clusaz and La Giettaz, the pass is one of the emblematic crossings of the Aravis massif. The photograph captures its open, pastoral summer character.
