From the heights, Lake Allos occupies the center of a vast cirque enclosed by the Tours du Lac. The blue water contrasts with the cliffs, alpine pastures, and larch trees, whose warmer colors punctuate the shores and highlight changes in altitude. Located at 2,228 meters in the commune of Allos, in the Haut-Verdon region, the lake is part of the Mercantour National Park. The large rock formations surrounding it are carved from the Annot sandstones and give the site a particularly recognizable geological identity. The bird's-eye view allows one to observe the entire organization of the landscape: the body of water, vegetated shores, scree, and then mineral walls. The curves of the lake echo the vertical lines of the Towers, while variations of blue, gray, and ochre enhance the depth of the cirque.
