About this image
In autumn, Lac de l’Orceyrette reflects a forest of golden larches, while the first snows appear on the valley's higher ground. The deep green of the water, the orange of the trees, and the white of the high altitudes create a particularly rich palette, characteristic of the rapid seasonal changes in the Hautes-Alpes. The trees are repeated in the water as vertical orange lines. A pale shore separates the woodland from the lake in places, while snowy summits add height to the background. This alternation of elongated reflections, a bright woodland edge and high white terrain brings out the different textures of the landscape as autumn spreads through the forest.
Located at an altitude of around 1,928 meters in Villar-Saint-Pancrace, the lake borders the Bois des Ayes, a vast area of larches and Arolla pines in the Briançon region. Its forest environment distinguishes it from the more open and mineral lakes of the neighboring Queyras.
This photo print of Lac de l’Orceyrette surrounded by larches is printed on demand on matte Dibond aluminium. The medium highlights the golden hues of autumn, the deep green of the water, and the first snows of the valley.
