The plunging perspective reveals the complete design of the lake, the surrounding alpine pastures, and the large mineral slopes still marked by snowfields. The landscape is seen here in all its grandeur. The lake is located at an altitude of approximately 1,925 meters in Valais. Above it, the Tour Sallière culminates at 3,220 meters and closes off the cirque with a succession of rocky slopes and ridges. This major summit in the sector dominates the passages connecting Salanfe to the neighboring valleys and the relief of the Giffre massif.
