From the summit of Mont Pourri, the snowy ridges and peaks of the Vanoise stretch out as far as the eye can see. White lines follow one another almost unbroken, separated by shadows and valleys that lend spectacular depth to the panorama. Mont Pourri culminates at 3,779 meters in Tarentaise. Its elevated position offers a privileged perspective on the Vanoise massif, its glaciers, its long ridges, and the Savoyard valleys situated far below. The photograph at times approaches abstraction without losing the reality of the terrain. The whites of the snow, the blues of the shadows, and the rocky peaks create a regular rhythm, while the absence of a populated foreground reinforces the sensation of high altitude.
