About this image
From the Aiguille Percée, Mont Pourri dominates a vast panorama of Vanoise. The alpine pastures, rocky ridges, and snowfields occupy several planes before the silhouette of the summit imposes itself on the horizon. Lift pylons appear in the valley beyond the stony alpine pastures. The great grey summit retains snow patches in its hollows, creating bright accents between the rock faces. These man-made and natural landmarks help the eye follow the depth of the view from the heights of Tignes, from the nearby terrain across the valley to the high mountains.
The composition is based on the opening of the foreground and the natural progression towards the summit. The textures of grass, rock, and snow provide variety, while the ridge lines maintain a clear reading between the stony alpine pastures and the high mountains.
The viewpoint is located on the heights of Tignes, in Haute-Tarentaise. Rising to 3,779 metres, Mont Pourri is one of the major summits of the massif and remains visible from many sectors of the valley.
This photo print of Mont Pourri from the Aiguille Percée is made to order on matte Dibond aluminium. The rendering preserves the summer hues, snowfields, and the depth of the Tarentaise landscape.
