At sunset, the Aiguilles Crochues form a dark ridge against the snow-capped peaks of the Mont-Blanc massif. Warm light grazes the snowfields and glacial areas, while the rocky couloirs remain deeply etched in shadow. Located in the Aiguilles Rouges massif, above the Chamonix valley, the Aiguilles Crochues reach an altitude of 2,840 meters. Their position offers a direct face-off with the Mont-Blanc massif, on the other side of the valley, bringing together two very different landscapes in one image. The framing thus contrasts the dark, jagged rock in the foreground with the softer volumes of the high glacial mountains. The orange hues of the sky extend over the snow, then gradually give way to the blues of twilight. This transition gives the landscape a calm and very legible depth.
