About this image

A canyon cuts into the rhyolite slopes of Landmannalaugar and reveals several layers of coloured rock. Irregular walls, darker flows and moss-covered areas create immediate depth in this volcanic landscape of the Highlands. A winding stream crosses ochre and grey hills whose triangular forms make erosion particularly legible. The white sky diffuses light across this almost vegetation-free terrain. The curve of the water introduces a softer line between the ridges: it allows the eye to follow the bottom of the ravine before climbing back toward the striated surfaces of its slopes.

The framing follows the line of the canyon and lets its walls guide the eye into the massif. Ochres, greens and greys answer one another, while deeper shadows emphasize differences in level without turning the relief into an abstract pattern.

The Fjallabak nature reserve lies within the Torfajökull system, a vast active region where rhyolite, obsidian, lava fields, rivers and geothermal phenomena coexist. Water and former glaciers have opened numerous ravines and gullies here.

What should I do if my print arrives damaged or has a defect?

If the print has a printing defect, breakage or transport damage, whether the packaging is damaged or appears intact, contact AluArtMountains as soon as possible. Send your order number, a full photograph of the print and detailed photos of the defect. If the packaging is marked or damaged, also include photos of the inner and outer packaging and the shipping label. Once the claim is approved, a compliant replacement print will be produced at no extra cost, without limiting your statutory rights.
