About this image
The first light of day gradually reveals the pyramid of the Cervin above Zermatt. The upper ridges take on a warm tone, while the rocky flanks and summit snow still retain the blues and greys of the night. The tight framing contrasts a large ochre face in the light with the darker right-hand slope. Snow lodged in the strata highlights the folds of the rock and crosses this boundary of light. Sunrise can therefore be read directly in the material of the summit, with little distance between the details of the gneiss and the overall line of the pyramid.
The composition emphasizes the modelling of the relief rather than a spectacular effect. Low-angle light follows the irregularities of the gneiss, highlights the couloirs and creates a gradual transition between illuminated areas and slopes still in shadow.
Rising to 4,478 metres, the Cervin belongs to the Alpes valaisannes and stands on the border between Switzerland and Italy. Its almost isolated form above the valley explains the visual power it retains from many viewpoints around Zermatt.

What should I do if my print arrives damaged or has a defect?
If the print has a printing defect, breakage or transport damage, whether the packaging is damaged or appears intact, contact AluArtMountains as soon as possible. Send your order number, a full photograph of the print and detailed photos of the defect. If the packaging is marked or damaged, also include photos of the inner and outer packaging and the shipping label. Once the claim is approved, a compliant replacement print will be produced at no extra cost, without limiting your statutory rights.
