About this image

At Passo Santner, the cliffs and aiguilles of the Catinaccio frame a high-altitude refuge set in an almost entirely mineral landscape. Clouds move between the walls and emphasize the verticality of the rock towers, while the building provides a concrete scale for the relief.

A person dressed in yellow stands on the rocky terrace to the left, facing the open valley. On the right, the small brown refuge with a green roof sits at the foot of the high limestone towers. This division of the scene gives two measures of height: the human figure at the open edge and the building directly dominated by the walls.

The framing connects architecture and high mountains without giving the refuge excessive importance. Pale greys of limestone, wall shadows and changes in the sky create a dense image in which every plane remains readable.

The pass lies at around 2,740 metres on the western side of Catinaccio-Rosengarten in the Italian Dolomites. It overlooks the Gartl basin and opens views toward the Torri del Vajolet in an area crossed by hiking and via ferrata routes.

What should I do if my print arrives damaged or has a defect?

If the print has a printing defect, breakage or transport damage, whether the packaging is damaged or appears intact, contact AluArtMountains as soon as possible. Send your order number, a full photograph of the print and detailed photos of the defect. If the packaging is marked or damaged, also include photos of the inner and outer packaging and the shipping label. Once the claim is approved, a compliant replacement print will be produced at no extra cost, without limiting your statutory rights.
