About this image

At sunset, the Mont-Blanc massif is reflected in the calm water of the Chéserys lakes. Shore rocks frame the mirror of the lake while the summits and glaciers appear in warm light across the valley. Pink tones from the summits descend into the water as elongated vertical reflections. Above the smooth lake, the aiguilles and snow-covered dome retain distinct outlines. Their softer repetition in the basin contrasts the precision of the relief with the continuity of colour, with evening light linking the two halves of the image.

The low framing gives reflection a central place without seeking perfect symmetry. Dark rocks, slight variations in the surface and the final colours of the sky give relief to the composition and maintain a natural balance between water, stone and high mountains.

Located in the Aiguilles Rouges nature reserve below Lac Blanc, the Chéserys are a group of small lakes facing Mont-Blanc. The area lies at around 2,200 metres above sea level and provides one of the most open viewpoints over the Chamonix massif.

This photo print of Mont-Blanc from the Chéserys lakes at sunset, printed to order on matte aluminium Dibond, reproduces the evening light and depth of this emblematic Aiguilles Rouges landscape.
