About this image

The ridges of Mont-Blanc appear in the final light in a black-and-white photograph where light becomes material in its own right. Summits, glacial slopes and couloirs stand out in successive levels between luminous whites and deep shadows. The great white massif appears far behind dark rocky ridges. Above, the uniform sky allows the outlines of the relief to stand out clearly. The opposition between this distant luminous mass and the nearer lines gives depth to the monochrome image; differences in grey are enough to separate the planes while maintaining their continuity.

Monochrome translates sunset through grey values. The last illuminated areas guide the eye, while granite and snow retain their textures. This restraint gives the scene a calm, almost abstract presence without erasing its geographic grounding.

The massif dominates the Chamonix valley in Haute-Savoie and contains some of the highest relief in the Alps. The image reproduces the continuity of the ridges and the power of the glacial landscape.

What should I do if my print arrives damaged or has a defect?

If the print has a printing defect, breakage or transport damage, whether the packaging is damaged or appears intact, contact AluArtMountains as soon as possible. Send your order number, a full photograph of the print and detailed photos of the defect. If the packaging is marked or damaged, also include photos of the inner and outer packaging and the shipping label. Once the claim is approved, a compliant replacement print will be produced at no extra cost, without limiting your statutory rights.
