About this image

The rows of snow-covered fir trees create a regular repetition as seen by drone. Each tree forms a distinct peak surrounded by bluish shadows, while the darker intervals give the undergrowth a depth that the vertical angle makes immediately perceptible. Taken near La Féclaz, in the Bauges mountains, this photograph shows the Savoyard forest landscape without a horizon line. The snow transforms the natural organization of the conifers into a visible geometry, with alignments, tighter groups, and open passages. This second framing is distinguished by its more ordered rhythm. The treetops seem to echo each other from one edge of the image to the other, but variations in size and density prevent any mechanical repetition.
