A high-altitude lake occupies the foreground beneath the peaks of the Grand Arc, while Mont Blanc appears in the distance. The surface of the water reflects some of the sky's hues, creating a breathing space between the rocky shores, the slopes of La Lauzière, and the more distant peaks. The Grand Arc dominates the Combe de Savoie at the northern end of the Lauzière massif. Its ridges provide access to several lakes and viewpoints, with open vistas towards the Beaufortain, the Mont Blanc massif, and the large Savoyard valleys. The framing relies on three clearly separated scales: the water and rocks in the foreground, the ridge in the center, and then the Mont Blanc range on the horizon. This arrangement gives the landscape a natural depth and avoids overcomplicating the scene.
