About this image

The Grand Hôtel-Dieu rises on the opposite bank of the Rhône, with its great dome and long facades aligned along the quay. In the foreground, passers-by are reflected in the pools on the riverbank, while the river separates the promenade from the monument. The cyclist and people walking along the river add moving silhouettes in front of the long facades. In the nearby pools, their reflections extend towards the bottom of the frame. The width of the Rhône keeps the monument at a distance, while these small mirrors give presence to the promenade in the foreground.

This view gives an important place to walkers and their reflections in the pools. The details of the dome and wings remain visible beyond the river; the passers-by and cyclist give this urban landscape a human scale.

Located in the heart of the Presqu'île, the former hospital is one of Lyon's great heritage complexes. Its monumental facade lines the right bank of the Rhône and remains visible from the quays and landscaped banks on the opposite side.

This photo print of the Hôtel-Dieu and the pools on the Rhône riverbanks is made to order on matte aluminium Dibond. The rendering preserves the architectural details and the softness of the Lyon reflections.
