About this image

Mont Aiguille rises above the alpine meadows and forests of the Trièves like an isolated limestone block. Its vertical walls, summit plateau and sharply defined silhouette give the photograph an immediately recognisable graphic presence. On the right, the cliffs along the edge of the plateau extend the panorama and make the isolation of the central tower easy to read. Forests occupy its base beneath elongated clouds that echo the horizontality of the summit. This proximity between Mont Aiguille and the rocky barrier of the massif makes its singular form particularly clear in the landscape.

The framing leaves enough space around the monolith to show its isolation. Meadows and woodland form a softer base, while cliff greys and wall shadows accentuate the verticality of the relief.

This Vercors summit rises to 2,087 metres. It is a witness butte of the massif’s former eastern barrier, separated from the plateau by erosion. Its 1492 ascent is often regarded as a founding event in the history of mountaineering.

What should I do if my print arrives damaged or has a defect?

If the print has a printing defect, breakage or transport damage, whether the packaging is damaged or appears intact, contact AluArtMountains as soon as possible. Send your order number, a full photograph of the print and detailed photos of the defect. If the packaging is marked or damaged, also include photos of the inner and outer packaging and the shipping label. Once the claim is approved, a compliant replacement print will be produced at no extra cost, without limiting your statutory rights.
