About this image

In La Féclaz, snow-laden fir trees create a silent forest in the heart of the Bauges massif. White branches intertwine, darker trunks frame the scene, and diffused light softens the differences between the foreground and more distant trees. At the foot of the conifers, the snow remains smooth and receives long shadows. Above the branches laden with white, blue sky and clouds open up the upper part of the frame. These clearer surfaces accompany the density of the trees: the elongated lines on the ground echo the verticals of the canopy and give direction to the winter light.

The photograph emphasizes the density of the undergrowth rather than an open panorama. Snow accumulations reveal the shape of each branch and give the whole a deep texture, with a sober palette of whites, grays, and muted greens.

The Savoie Grand Revard plateau is known for its vast forest areas and Nordic landscapes. In winter, snow transforms clearings and trails into wide, bright surfaces, while conifers maintain a very distinct vertical presence.

This scene becomes a photographic print of snow-covered fir trees in La Féclaz, printed to order on matte Dibond aluminium. The finish preserves the soft light and the hushed atmosphere of the Bauges.
