About this image

The Barre des Écrins rises above the glaciers and ridges of the Valgaudemar in this view from the Plateau des Rouies. Its rocky mass closes the horizon, while the snow-covered slopes in the foreground gradually lead the eye towards its jagged faces. The rock mass in the background has two bulges on the right. On the left, a much nearer rock provides another depth reference, separated from the summit by clouds. This difference in distance and texture reveals the scale of the terrain, from the immediate edge of the plateau to the walls closing the view.

The framing contrasts the relatively open surface of the plateau with the vertical lines of the summit. Grey rock, white snow and bluish shadows create an understated photograph in which the distance between planes reinforces the sensation of altitude.

The Barre des Écrins is a major summit of the Écrins massif. The view from the Plateau des Rouies connects its high terrain with the ridges of the Valgaudemar area.

What should I do if my print arrives damaged or has a defect?

If the print has a printing defect, breakage or transport damage, whether the packaging is damaged or appears intact, contact AluArtMountains as soon as possible. Send your order number, a full photograph of the print and detailed photos of the defect. If the packaging is marked or damaged, also include photos of the inner and outer packaging and the shipping label. Once the claim is approved, a compliant replacement print will be produced at no extra cost, without limiting your statutory rights.
