Night falls on Val Thorens as the resort's lights illuminate the streets, buildings, and slopes below the Aiguille de Péclet. The warm halos contrast with the snow and dark sky, giving the landscape both an urban and alpine presence. Val Thorens is situated at an elevation of 2,300 meters in the Belleville Valley, at the heart of Les Trois Vallées. The Aiguille de Péclet, which culminates at 3,561 meters, dominates this area of glaciers and high passes in the Vanoise massif. The long exposure makes the different planes more legible: the illuminated resort in the foreground, the snow-covered slopes above, and then the dark silhouette of the summit. This preserves a real depth in the image despite the low light and avoids reducing the scene to a simple resort landscape.
