About this image

Val Thorens appears beneath a layer of snow covering roofs, pistes and surrounding slopes. Grooming lines and the geometry of the ski area structure the landscape, while the resort remains perfectly identifiable within this winter setting. Regular grooves of the groomed piste fill the foreground before the buildings and chairlifts. Their tight pattern creates a rhythm very different from the white mountains behind. The photograph thus moves from snow shaped by the ski area to broader volumes, keeping the resort as the link between nearby terrain and high-altitude relief.

The photograph does not stop at the buildings: it shows how the resort fits into the mountain. Whites of the snow connect the different planes, shadows emphasize the slopes and the grooves bring rhythm to an otherwise calm scene.

Set at 2,300 metres in the Belleville valley, Val Thorens is the highest resort in the Les Trois Vallées ski area. Its surroundings extend between passes, glaciers and summits of the Vanoise massif, with snow cover profoundly changing the way the relief is read.

What should I do if my print arrives damaged or has a defect?

If the print has a printing defect, breakage or transport damage, whether the packaging is damaged or appears intact, contact AluArtMountains as soon as possible. Send your order number, a full photograph of the print and detailed photos of the defect. If the packaging is marked or damaged, also include photos of the inner and outer packaging and the shipping label. Once the claim is approved, a compliant replacement print will be produced at no extra cost, without limiting your statutory rights.
