The Milky Way crosses a clear night sky above the ridges and forests of the Vosges mountains. The silhouettes of fir trees form a dark line at the bottom of the image, while stars and luminous dust occupy most of the frame. No more precise viewpoint is added. The photograph remains anchored in the Vosges, a medium-altitude mountain range whose high stubble fields, rounded ridges, and forests offer horizons open enough to observe the sky far from the most intense urban lighting. The long exposure reveals a density of stars invisible to the naked eye and distinguishes the brighter core of the galaxy. The deep blues of the sky respond to the blacks of the relief, creating a clear transition between the terrestrial landscape and nocturnal space.
