The Barre des Écrins receives the first rays of the sun while the glaciers and valleys remain in cool tones. The light first reaches the upper ridges, then gradually descends onto the faces, revealing the structure of the summit. At 4,102 meters (13,458 ft), the Barre des Écrins is the highest point in the massif. It rises between the Vallouise and Vénéon valleys, in the heart of the Ecrins National Park, amidst a group of glaciers and peaks exceeding 4,000 meters. The framing plays on the contrast between the subtle orange of the sunrise and the blues of the snow still in shadow. The different layers of the relief remain legible, from the glacial slopes to the rocky ridges, without losing the softness characteristic of the first minutes of morning.
