From Charmant Som, the Dent de Crolles structures the foreground before the eye reaches the Belledonne mountain range. The limestone reliefs of the Chartreuse and the more distant granitic peaks echo each other across the Grésivaudan valley. This viewpoint in the Chartreuse massif is located north of Grenoble. It offers very open views of the neighboring massifs, with a particularly clear reading of the differences in shape and material between the cliffs of the Dent de Crolles and the high ridges of Belledonne. The framing emphasizes the succession of planes. The slopes of Charmant Som lead towards the Dent de Crolles, then the reliefs gradually become bluer on the horizon.
