At dusk, the lights of La Grave appear at the foot of the Meije. The houses and streets form a warm foreground, while the snow, rock faces, and glacial areas of the summit retain the cool tones of the blue hour. The village is located at an altitude of around 1,470 meters in the Hautes-Alpes, north of the Écrins National Park, in Oisans. Facing it, the Meije culminates at approximately 3,983 meters and dominates the Romanche valley with its particularly imposing north face. The distant viewpoint maintains a true balance between the inhabited landscape and the high mountains. The points of light give the scale of the valley, the roofs remain clear, and the reliefs rise progressively to the snowy ridges.
