About this image

The Valette refuges stand out in black and white amid the slopes of the Vanoise. The small wooden chalets, rocks and lines of the terrain form a stripped-back scene in which the architecture remains very present without breaking the scale of the landscape. The pointed roofs punctuate a slope where rock and grass remain widely visible. Above the mountains, a streaked sky extends this variety of textures. The small size of the chalets can be measured against the changes in slope: black and white brings the lines of the wood and those of the terrain closer together while preserving the distinction between construction and natural relief.

Monochrome accentuates the contrast between the buildings, any remaining snow and the surrounding relief. The grey values distinguish the textures of wood, stone and slopes while giving the whole scene a quiet, timeless atmosphere.

Set at around 2,590 metres above sea level, the refuge overlooks Pralognan-la-Vanoise and the Chavière valley. It lies in the heart of the national park, at the foot of glaciers and on the route of the Tour des Glaciers de la Vanoise.

What should I do if my print arrives damaged or has a defect?

If the print has a printing defect, breakage or transport damage, whether the packaging is damaged or appears intact, contact AluArtMountains as soon as possible. Send your order number, a full photograph of the print and detailed photos of the defect. If the packaging is marked or damaged, also include photos of the inner and outer packaging and the shipping label. Once the claim is approved, a compliant replacement print will be produced at no extra cost, without limiting your statutory rights.
