The Cirque de Saint-Même unfolds its amphitheater of cliffs above the meadows and forests of Chartreuse. The wide view shows the succession of limestone walls, waterfalls, and wooded slopes that naturally enclose this valley of Saint-Pierre-d'Entremont. The curved cliffs rise above a dense canopy where dark green mingles with yellow-orange tones. Waterfalls can be distinguished between the trees, punctuating the rock faces. Forest covers the entire visible base of the amphitheatre, providing a colourful transition to the broad limestone surfaces, with no open meadow within this framing.

The panoramic framing gives full scope to the relief without artificially isolating a single waterfall. The greens and yellow-orange tones of the forest soften the mass of the limestone, while the different layers of the landscape make the depth of the amphitheater legible.

Located at an altitude of around 900 meters, the site is at the foot of the Hauts de Chartreuse nature reserve. Its cliffs, nearly 500 meters high, are home to the sources of the Guiers Vif river and four waterfalls spread throughout the cirque.
