Photo print of the Glacier d’Aletsch at sunrise in Switzerland

From the heights of the Eggishorn, the great Glacier d’Aletsch winds its way between the peaks of the Alpes bernoises at sunrise. The first light reaches the summits and parts of the ice, while the valleys remain marked by cold hues. The long medial moraines follow the curve of the ice between two rocky slopes. Far below, a small lake provides another reference point in the landscape. Golden light highlights the changes in material, from this isolated water to the glacial ribbon: the dark lines allow its curving course to be followed over a great distance.

The photograph highlights the dark lines of the central moraines and the slow curve of the glacier. The morning light creates a transition between subtle golds, whites of the snow, and blues of the ice, providing a precise rendering of the immensity of the site.

The Glacier d’Aletsch is the largest in the Alps. From the Eggishorn, which rises to 2,926 meters, its course remains visible for nearly twenty kilometers, from the Konkordiaplatz region to the lower curves of Valais. The entire area is part of the "Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch" World Heritage site.

This photo print of the Glacier d’Aletsch at sunrise is printed on demand on matte aluminium Dibond. The rendering preserves the depth of the relief and the nuances of the morning light.
