The Guiers Vif meanders between limestone blocks and the undergrowth of the Cirque de Saint-Même. The clear water flows through a scene rich in mosses, roots, and wet rocks, bringing movement to a tight framing of the torrent and the forest. The stream originates from underground springs in the Chartreuse massif before forming the waterfalls of the cirque. Historically, it marked the boundary between Dauphiné and Savoy, and to this day it still forms a border between the Isère and Savoy departments. The photograph emphasizes freshness and textures rather than a general view of the cliffs. The deep greens of the vegetation echo the grays of the stone, while the white areas of the water guide the eye through the undergrowth.
