About this image
In Saint-Pierre-d’Albigny, Lac de Carouge opens up facing the Dent d'Arclusaz. The calm water occupies the foreground, then the shores and slopes of the Combe de Savoie lead towards the long limestone silhouette that dominates the background. A few buildings can be distinguished among the trees along the shores. Above them, small clouds form a belt around the great wooded cliff. This partial veil emphasises the height of the terrain without hiding its silhouette, while the buildings and lake provide nearby reference points at the foot of the mountain.
The photograph is based on this simple opposition. The reflections extend certain lines of the summit, the vegetation frames the scene without closing it off, and the natural shades of blue, green, and grey maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
The Dent d'Arclusaz belongs to the Bauges massif and marks the entrance to the valley of the same name. From Lac de Carouge, its relief appears particularly close, which accentuates the contrast between the horizontality of the water and the verticality of the mountain.
This photo print of Lac de Carouge facing the Dent d'Arclusaz is printed to order on matte Dibond aluminium. The rendering captures the softness of the water and the precision of the Bauges relief.
