About this image
Lac des Confins lies amidst the alpine pastures of La Clusaz, facing the limestone peaks of the Aravis mountains. The calm water occupies the foreground, then the meadows and slopes gradually lead towards the summits that close off the composition. Scattered chalets and conifers dot the green alpine pastures above the mirror. Their small forms give a sense of scale to the limestone cliffs in the background. The photograph thus retains the details of the pastoral landscape around the lake, whose calm surface visually brings the inhabited shores closer to the great walls dominating the Confins area.
The photograph combines the horizontal softness of the water with the verticality of the reliefs. The greens of the alpine pastures, the grays of the limestone, and the blues of the sky form a natural palette, while the absence of agitation reinforces the impression of space and serenity.
Located a few kilometers from the village of La Clusaz, in Haute-Savoie, this mountain lake is part of one of the most open landscapes of the Aravis massif. The Confins area is characterized by high-altitude pastures, chalets, and the valleys that cut into the range.
This view of the alpine pastures is offered as a photo print of Lac des Confins in La Clusaz, on matte Dibond aluminium. Printing on demand preserves the depth of the landscape and the natural colors of the Aravis.
