Lake Confins lies amidst the alpine pastures of La Clusaz, facing the limestone peaks of the Aravis mountains. The calm water occupies the foreground, then the meadows and slopes gradually lead towards the summits that close off the composition. Located a few kilometers from the village of La Clusaz, in Haute-Savoie, this mountain lake is part of one of the most open landscapes of the Aravis massif. The Confins area is characterized by high-altitude pastures, chalets, and the valleys that cut into the range. The photograph combines the horizontal softness of the water with the verticality of the reliefs. The greens of the alpine pastures, the grays of the limestone, and the blues of the sky form a natural palette, while the absence of agitation reinforces the impression of space and serenity.
