About this image

The slabs of the Lac des Vaches cross the shallow water and lead the eye directly to Grande Casse. This stone passage, the reflections, and the summit in the background form one of the most recognizable perspectives of the Vanoise National Park. A dark bird can be seen in the foreground near the stone crossing. Its small silhouette introduces a living detail into this perspective of stone and water. The blocks of the path follow one another just above the lake, ahead of the rocky and glacial cirque: their diminishing size makes the distance to the far end particularly tangible.

The photograph relies on a very strong vanishing line. The flat stones give rhythm to the foreground, the water provides a gentle transition, and Grande Casse closes the composition with its walls and glacial slopes.

The lake is located around 2,320 meters above sea level, on the route to the Col de la Vanoise above Pralognan. The path follows an old salt road that once connected Tarentaise, Maurienne, and Piedmont.

What should I do if my print arrives damaged or has a defect?

If the print has a printing defect, breakage or transport damage, whether the packaging is damaged or appears intact, contact AluArtMountains as soon as possible. Send your order number, a full photograph of the print and detailed photos of the defect. If the packaging is marked or damaged, also include photos of the inner and outer packaging and the shipping label. Once the claim is approved, a compliant replacement print will be produced at no extra cost, without limiting your statutory rights.
