Lac du Goléon stretches out facing La Meije, whose walls and glaciers dominate the horizon. The calm water reflects part of the massif, while the rocky shores and high-altitude pastures frame the view without breaking the openness of the landscape. Stone slabs and short grass border the water in the foreground. Between the lake and the great glacial mountain, the valley creates a clear separation that the reflection visually bridges. The photograph thus connects the small textures of the shore with the distant rock bands and glaciers, keeping both the real distance and the continuity of the mirror legible.

The composition combines the horizontal plane of the lake with the verticality of the high peaks. The blues of the water and sky respond to the grays of the rock, while variations in light on the glaciers create a particularly legible depth.

Located above La Grave, in the Hautes-Alpes, the lake is situated at an altitude of over 2,400 meters. It belongs to the Goléon valley, a natural balcony facing La Meije, a major peak in the Écrins culminating at nearly 4,000 meters.
