About this image

Mont Granier dominates the landscape with its immense limestone cliff and wooded slopes. Raking light emphasizes the lines of the cliff, the folds of the terrain and the darker curves of the forest, giving this Chartreuse mountain an immediately recognizable silhouette. A large luminous cloud remains isolated above the stratified wall. Lower down, the small houses in the valley provide a tangible sense of the mountain’s height: between the inhabited valley floor, the forests and the cliff, three scales of landscape are layered one above the other. The white of the cloud echoes the pale rock without blending into it.

The photograph highlights the contrast between the pale mass of the rock and the vegetated slopes. Shadows reveal the structure of the limestone without closing off the view, while the natural tones preserve Granier’s presence, both imposing and restrained.

The summit rises to 1,933 metres between Savoie and Isère. Its north face, nearly 900 metres high, was profoundly shaped by the 1248 collapse, which formed the Abymes and the wine-growing landscape south of Chambéry.

If the packaging is marked or damaged, also include photos of the inner and outer packaging and the shipping label. Once the claim is approved, a compliant replacement print will be produced at no extra cost, without limiting your statutory rights.
