The Pointe Percée refuge stands out amidst a vast landscape of karsts and rocks, at the foot of the highest peak in the Aravis mountain range. The building remains modest in the face of the mineral world that surrounds it, immediately giving a sense of the relief's scale. The timber cladding rests on a grey base. The asymmetrical roof carries solar panels and chimneys, with a second roof visible behind it. Meadows, forest and a rounded ridge follow one another before the pale cliffs in the distance; these details place the refuge in a landscape of successive levels, from the nearby building to the distant limestone.
The composition plays on the opposition between the simple architecture of the refuge and the irregular shapes of the stone. Seasonal hues warm certain planes, while the ridges and slabs maintain an austere presence, conducive to an image of wandering and solitude.
Formerly known as the Gramusset refuge, it is located at an altitude of 2,164 metres above Le Grand-Bornand. Pointe Percée, which dominates the site at 2,750 metres, is the highest point of the Aravis range and marks the transition from alpine pastures to high-mountain limestone terrain.
The refuge and its mineral environment compose a Pointe Percée photo print, printed to order on matte Dibond aluminium. The karsts, rocks, and building remain legible without losing the sense of the massif's scale.
