About this image
Vieux Lyon borders the Saône under a pink and orange sky. Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste stands amidst the historic facades, while the Palais de Justice des 24 Colonnes and the Bonaparte bridge extend the composition along the river. To the right of Saint-Jean, the courthouse columns introduce a regular rhythm along the quay. Fourvière rises above the facades, while the broad pink-orange sky extends into the smooth water. The photograph connects these different levels through colour, from the nearby reflections to the monuments higher on the hill.
The sunset unites the different elements with a soft light. The facades take on warmer tones, reflections lengthen the colours in the Saône, and the bridge creates a clear link between the two banks without interrupting the readability of the landscape.
The Saint-Jean district is located on the right bank, at the foot of Fourvière. In this panoramic view, religious heritage, civil architecture, and quays interplay, with the hill and its metallic tower perceptible in the background.
This photo print of Vieux Lyon, Saint-Jean, and the Saône at sunset, photographed by f11photo, is printed on demand on matte Dibond aluminium. The rendition preserves the finesse of the heritage and the nuances of the evening.
